Nick came out and gave us an estimate. We had one done 2 years prior from a different company. Nick’s price was less than half. They came out and power washed, then planned to paint the following week. We had bad weather so got pushed back 3 weeks. Not their fault, that’s Mother Nature for you. Chris (crew chief) and his crew came out, they were here for 3 total days, which included the deck and detached garage. Paint job looks great! Couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend over and over. Our house is 1920 with half steel siding and half wood. Honestly, couldn’t be any happier. If you want good quality for good value, you’ve come to the place.
We couldn’t be happier with our experience working with Prairie Rose Painting! They did a stunning job painting our historic home a completely new color, and the transformation is incredible. Huge thanks to Nic, Evan, and the entire team for their thorough, quick, and professional work from start to finish. Their attention to detail and care for our home really showed—truly a job well done! Highly recommend. Thank you!!
I rarely write reviews, but I feel that I should share my experience to caution other consumers. The two positives I can share are:1. Nick fit my project in at the end of the season, and my siding was in pretty rough shape so it now looks slightly better than it did before.2. Service was generally friendly.Unfortunately, the positives end there. My main complaint is that the product is oversold. In the initial consultation, Nick stated that his company specializes in older homes with wood siding. He emphasized that his team does detailed prep work (washing, scraping, caulking, carefully cleaning up lead-based paint, using high quality primer) in order to achieve great results. All this extra work and special paint seemed like it was worth the $6000+ price. Here is how my project went:1. No one ever came by to wash the house. I know this because either my husband or I was home every day in the week leading up to the project, and we would have noticed someone spraying the entire outside of our house with water.2. When scraping paint, the team didn’t use a drop cloth on the entire west side of the house. My husband ended up sweeping the driveway, but the driveway and garden are still full of paint chips.3. No caulking was done before painting. Maybe this was due to the fact that the project was done so late in the season, and they did come back in the spring and do a little caulking, but definitely not a detailed job.4. I could hear the workers complaining and disparaging Nick the entire time.5. At one point, they continued to paint even though it was raining, and bubbles formed under the paint. I will credit them that they did come back in the spring to fix some of that, but there are still some bubbles.6. Nick never came out to look at the project last fall, even after I expressed concerns about the work.7. They did not put the downspouts back up after finishing, and my husband ended up having to do that. They also broke my house number and didn’t fix it.Overall, the quality of the finished product is not what I expected based on Nick’s initial consultation. The texture of the siding is very rough, there are gouges in the siding from scraping, and spots are still peeling/bubbling. Some areas of trim are still not caulked. If my siding was in such bad shape that this was the best they could do, I wish Nick would have been honest about that so I could have spent my money re-siding my home instead. In the end, I just signed the contract and paid the rest of the balance because I was tired of the back-and-forth. I paid $6,175 for what looks more like a $3,000 handyman job. Maybe I should have been more assertive about my dissatisfaction and refused to pay, but every time I brought up a concern it was dismissed as something that should just be expected with this type of project. I’m a new homeowner, so I understand that I might be naive about what to expect with contractors. I just wish this company would have been more realistic with me about what they could achieve instead of giving me false assurances just to get my money.
They beautifully painted our home, giving us exactly what we wanted. The paint crew was easy to have around, pleasant, hard working and remarkably neat doing an inherently messy job
The initial contact by this company was quick and we were consistently informed of each step which was taken on time as scheduled. I am beyond happy with the work and the professionalism of the employees. There were no paint marks anywhere, the lines were clean, and all of our wall hangings, plants, etc were returned to its proper place. This was the most painless painting job I have ever experienced.
