Zayne Knight on Paint It OKC

I hired Paint It OKC to paint the exterior garage and trim of our house (built in 1930). The Paint It representative that worked with us, whom I'll refer to as Bob (not his real name), assured us they would take good care of us. Indeed, the crew that painted the house did a good job painting and cleaning up. However, there are some old and rotting fascia boards on the front of the house that were exposed when I removed the gutter. I asked Bob if they could replace the boards before painting the front of the house and he indicated that they would do just that. When the crew were finished, it appeared that they had replaced the fascia boards.

We were mostly pleased with the look of the result -- although screw heads from the new fascia boards were exposed and the seams between them were not caulked -- and paid in full. Several days later, there was a rainstorm. During this event, water POURED in through the window casing below where they had installed the new fascia boards. My wife called
Bob to let him know and he said he and his team member that made the repair would come take a look. However, he began making excuses straight away saying that whoever replaced the roof last didn't do it correctly. The roof had been replaced several years prior and we had not had a single leak to this point.

Bob and the foreman came out the next morning and tried to explain why the "repair" was done the way it had been. They recommended that I spray expanding foam in the void behind the brickwork and fascia to prevent the water from infiltrating. Bob also reassured me that, if that didn't work, let him know and he would help. Seeing rain in the near-term forecast, I hesitantly took their advice to avoid another flood in my house. I carefully applied foam bit-by-bit to ensure not overfilling. I also more closely inspected how they fastened the "replacement" boards and found: the rotting/weathered boards were NOT replaced; the new 1x6 boards were screwed to the old boards; the new boards were attached OVER the drip edge; over the window; the new board was attached such that there was now a 1-inch lip in front at the edge of the roof sheathing, creating a dam that would channel water behind the brickwork.

Once the foam had cured, I inspected it and found that, although there was more space to expand vertically, it had expanded enough horizontally to cause the brick to loosen.

I contacted Bob to inform him about my new findings and sent photographs. He replied with an inaccurate statement that they had "replaced the rotted fascia boards that were tacked on the outside of that which were holding the gutters in place." This is not true. The gutters were attached to the rotting boards; there were no others tacked on. He also suggested that I apply Liquid Nails to the brickwork to stabilize what had been loosened. Luckily, I had the sense to not take that advice. Bob indicated that the foreman would be happy to come out and replace the boards "correctly" if I purchased the materials. I told him that, before we do anything else, I needed to consult with a mason. He recommended a mason whom I attempted to contact but was unsuccessful. This was the last conversation I had with anyone at Paint It OKC.

I completely understand if a job is outside the skillset of the team doing the work, especially since I hired them for a paint job and not a construction repair job. However, they accepted the job and assured me they would take care of it. If what they encountered was outside their expertise, THEY SHOULD HAVE COMMUNICATED THAT TO ME such that we could ensure it was properly repaired PRIOR to them painting it instead of doing it incorrectly. Further, the leak was CAUSED by the way the "repair" was done. It may not have been aesthetically pleasing before, but it didn't leak.

In the end, I had to hire a mason and framer to come out and remediate the both the existing issue and the problems caused by improper repairs.
UPDATE: no one ever called to discuss (see reply from Paint It)

James Menzies on Paint It OKC

I had Jeff come and give an estimate to paint the inside of my newly built workshop. He had a crew out 5 days later to do the job. The first paint crew did a very poor job of spraying. Upon telling Jeff, he immediately came and looked at it and assured me it would be repainted untill I was happy with the results. He had a different paint crew come and redo the whole thing the following day. They did a fantastic job going over the existing work. Very happy with the customer service and their promptness to fix the issue. Even gave me a discount on the original quote for inconvenience. That's what I call service. Very happy with the outcome, very reasonably priced, even without the discount. I highly recommend them.

From start to finish Paint It OKC exceeded expectations. The consultation was quick and I had a final price including labor and paint within a day or so. I had the ceilings and walls of the whole house painted and it took 3 days. David and Jose were here early and worked quickly and efficiently. There isn’t a speck of paint on anything it shouldn’t be on. Prep work was exceptional and the quality of the job as a whole was fantastic. I would recommend Paint It OKC to anyone looking for a great value and superior work.

Out of all the contractors I have used on my home, Paint It by far has been the best on all counts. As an female owning a house and needing to call for help it can be a bit difficult in male dominated fields but the crew that worked on my home made this experience an excellent one. My Rep Jason was on time, courteous, prompt to respond to all my questions and was incredibly easy to work with. His foreman David was able to come up with solutions to repair some small damage issues including storm and some from squirrels. After the job was done I even noticed some of the trim work that had been moved from earthquakes had even been sealed. The young man that was with this crew stood on a ladder for two straight days in 90+ heat doing the prep work and sealing. He was an outstanding worker.

The customer service was outstanding from start to finish from offering proof of insurance before I asked for it to making sure I was satisfied before processing the payment. They even finished earlier than estimated.

I don't easily recommend someone, but I would gladly recommend this company for hire. My neighbors and friends are already asking for business cards! The free estimate is worth taking a chance. Even if they quote a bit higher than someone else, the service and quality I received would have been worth it because everything was protected to prevent my home from being damaged. I am a satisfied customer and am so grateful to them for helping me with this project.
